The child would be allowed to claim US Citizenship (assuming you are). Not sure what kinda proof or paperwork that takes, but I'd expect some.
If the kid comes to America, it probably gives the mother an ability to apply for a family visa that can turn into permanent residency. Still have to go through the process, 6-12 months at least, $500-$1000 dollars not including any lawyer if you choose to hire one. Plenty of forms, lots of time to fill them out. While they are all pretty basic forms, figuring out which ones you need can be a challenge, getting a Thai lady with limited English skills to fill them out on her own is impossible. She'll also need police reports, blood tests, chest x-ray, interviews, etc.. I think this is all the same process if you married her in Thailand wife vs. mother, it's probably the same family visa process
