Legal Responsibilities and Visa Process if You Get a Thai Woman Pregnant - aiden15632 - 07-25-2024 You've been to Thailand before and are planning another trip soon. Suppose you get your Thai girlfriend pregnant and are certain the child is yours. How does this impact the visa process for her to come to the USA? Are you legally responsible for anything? You're not seeking permission to abandon responsibility but want to know your obligations and whether moving forward with the relationship might make it easier to bring her to your country. Legal Responsibilities
RE: Legal Responsibilities and Visa Process if You Get a Thai Woman Pregnant - daniel74 - 07-25-2024 Been once before andd going again in a week. Was wondering say you get you Thai girl pregnant and know its yours. How does this affect the visa process for them to come to USA? Do you and or can you find yourself legally responsible for anything? I am not asking for permission to abondon ship. Just wondering if you are obligated to help and if you decide to moce forward with the relationship if its an easier to get them into your country. Thanks in advance RE: Legal Responsibilities and Visa Process if You Get a Thai Woman Pregnant - daniel74 - 07-25-2024 The child would be allowed to claim US Citizenship (assuming you are). Not sure what kinda proof or paperwork that takes, but I'd expect some. If the kid comes to America, it probably gives the mother an ability to apply for a family visa that can turn into permanent residency. Still have to go through the process, 6-12 months at least, $500-$1000 dollars not including any lawyer if you choose to hire one. Plenty of forms, lots of time to fill them out. While they are all pretty basic forms, figuring out which ones you need can be a challenge, getting a Thai lady with limited English skills to fill them out on her own is impossible. She'll also need police reports, blood tests, chest x-ray, interviews, etc.. I think this is all the same process if you married her in Thailand wife vs. mother, it's probably the same family visa process RE: Legal Responsibilities and Visa Process if You Get a Thai Woman Pregnant - daniel74 - 07-25-2024 From the limited understanding of Thai law, if you just shrug and leave, I think you're basically out and they're on their own? Just run away, no responsibility!!!?? But, US law being what it is... I betcha if she got smart and hired a lawyer in your hometown (or state) you'd probably be owing some child support!!! I'm certainly no expert on this, and have never heard of this happening before. But I'm not sure what would prevent a girl from trying this if she knew she could? RE: Legal Responsibilities and Visa Process if You Get a Thai Woman Pregnant - hilululu - 07-25-2024 Getting a Thai woman pregnant brings legal responsibilities and can affect the visa process for her and your child to come to the USA. You may be obligated to provide child support and participate in your child's upbringing. Moving forward with the relationship can potentially make the visa process easier, provided you meet all legal and financial requirements. Consulting with an immigration attorney and a family lawyer can help you navigate these complexities and ensure that you fulfill your responsibilities effectively. RE: Legal Responsibilities and Visa Process if You Get a Thai Woman Pregnant - johnson13 - 07-25-2024 Moving Forward with the Relationship Ease of Visa Process: A genuine and committed relationship, supported by evidence of your ongoing communication and visits, can facilitate the visa process. Having a child together may also strengthen your case for a visa, demonstrating your commitment to family unity. Legal and Financial Preparedness: Being prepared to meet the financial requirements for sponsoring your partner and child is crucial. You must show that you can support them without relying on public assistance. |
