I had a similar "friendly" divorce experience. I went to a translator near the embassy (Dutch) who, for a fee, explained everything I needed to know and arranged all the legalizations. The process was straightforward; I simply signed the divorce papers at the district office. In my case, there were no possessions involved in the marriage, which made the process even smoother. The staff at the district office were quite considerate and even asked if I fully understood what I was signing. It was a nice touch, showing they cared about ensuring everything was clear.
