Afternoon everyone,
My ex and I have mutually agreed to proceed with an uncontested divorce at the Bang Rak district office, where we were originally married. We're trying to ensure we have all the necessary documents and follow the correct procedures, but there is some conflicting information out there.
The documents we understand we need include:
  1. Marriage Certificate
  2. Passports
  3. ID Cards
  4. Tabien Bahn (House Registration)
While this list seems straightforward, I've come across some advice suggesting that I may need to visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to get my passport certified and then translated before we can finalize the divorce. This additional step has created some confusion for us.
Can anyone provide clarity on the following points?
  1. Required Documents: Are the documents we've listed sufficient for an uncontested divorce at the Bang Rak district office?
  2. Passport Certification: Is it necessary to have my passport certified by the MFA? If so, what does this process entail, and how long does it typically take?
  3. Translation Needs: Do we need to have any documents translated? If so, which ones, and does this need to be done by an official translator?
Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated as we navigate this process. We're looking to avoid any unnecessary delays or complications, so detailed information on the exact requirements and steps would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I had a similar "friendly" divorce experience. I went to a translator near the embassy (Dutch) who, for a fee, explained everything I needed to know and arranged all the legalizations. The process was straightforward; I simply signed the divorce papers at the district office. In my case, there were no possessions involved in the marriage, which made the process even smoother. The staff at the district office were quite considerate and even asked if I fully understood what I was signing. It was a nice touch, showing they cared about ensuring everything was clear.

Thanks again....

Nothing registered in uk so fairly easy.

So it’s only the passport to be certified and translated?

We’re also getting divorced same place as we married so let’s hope it’s easier.

Thanks again for your advice

We only have 2 days, so we'll have to handle it ourselves. I remember the process from when we got married—ugh, not again. Sorry to ask, but could you let me know the actual procedure step-by-step? I really appreciate your help with this. I don't mind the waiting, as it has to be done.

The divorce process is easy and quick. You just need your passport and marriage papers. You sign the divorce papers, and in about 10 minutes, it’s done. To be sure, have your passport translated. I also registered my marriage in my country, and for that to be canceled, I needed to translate and legalize everything.
