The grand opening of Taboo A-GoGo took place last night, marking the latest reincarnation of a long line of A-GoGo bars that have occupied these premises on the right-hand side of Walking Street. This venue has seen many iterations, including Silver Star 3, Coyote Club, and Eclipse, but Taboo A-GoGo brings a fresh, new vibe to the location.
The interior has been completely revamped, presenting a modern and stylish atmosphere. The space is divided into two main sections. The front area features a bar with several small tables attached to the walls and a few dance poles. The back section houses various tables, some equipped with dance poles and others without. Unlike many A-GoGo bars, there is no central stage. Instead, all seating is covered in luxurious leather, including continuous benches along the walls and large, sultry leather sofas around the tables with dance poles. The purple lighting adds a touch of mystery and allure, although it does make the venue quite dark. Unfortunately, the music volume is excessively loud, which may not appeal to everyone.
Taboo A-GoGo is staffed by a large number of girls. While there are a few standout beauties, the majority of the lineup feels somewhat generic. Drink options are limited as there is no draft beer available. A bottle of SML costs 160 THB, and lady drinks are priced at 190 THB. When inquiring about the bar fine, I was informed that it is 1500 THB for the entire night. There is some pressure to buy lady drinks, but it is relatively restrained compared to other venues.
The design of Taboo A-GoGo certainly sets it apart from its predecessors and other A-GoGo bars on Walking Street. Whether this innovative approach will prove to be a positive change is subjective and remains to be seen. The prices are on the higher side, which might be a concern for some patrons. The ultimate test will be whether this fancy design and unique setup can help Taboo A-GoGo survive longer than its predecessors.
I look forward to visiting again to see how Taboo A-GoGo evolves and whether it can establish itself as a mainstay in Pattaya’s bustling nightlife.
