I totally get the need for private communication, and I’ve been using ProtonMail for a while now. One of the things I appreciate about ProtonMail is that it doesn’t ask for personal details when signing up, but it still offers secure, encrypted emails. However, I did find that the default setup doesn’t offer complete anonymity because your IP address can be traced.
If you want to increase your privacy, I would recommend using ProtonMail in conjunction with a VPN service or Tor. That way, even if someone tries to trace back your email, your IP address will be masked. It’s an extra step, but it adds more security to your email exchanges.
I’ve also heard of some people using Burner emails or temp services for short-term privacy, like the ones mentioned earlier—TempMail, Guerilla Mail, etc. But for serious and long-term use, I think ProtonMail is one of the better options. It allows you to stay anonymous as long as you’re cautious with your browsing habits.
Privacy is key, but sometimes it’s important to also have a conversation with your partner if something feels off. Being upfront about things like privacy concerns can go a long way in maintaining trust and avoiding future issues.
