I found this survey to be really interesting because it seems to go against the grain of what we typically hear in discussions about female orgasm. For years, it's been portrayed that most women need clitoral stimulation in addition to penetration to reach orgasm. So, seeing that 68% of women in this survey experience orgasm with penetration alone definitely made me rethink things a bit.
That being said, I do think the context of the survey is important. The fact that the study distinguishes between just penetration and penetration with clitoral stimulation is essential, as it shows that the experience of orgasm can differ widely based on how the stimulation is delivered. For example, some women might experience orgasm through deep penetration that directly stimulates certain areas inside, while others might need more focused external touch.
I also wonder how much of this study reflects personal experience versus the way women are often socialized to view their own pleasure. Many women are taught that they "need" clitoral stimulation to orgasm, and that might influence how they interpret their experiences. Maybe if we lived in a world where penetration and internal sensations were more openly discussed, women might discover that they can achieve orgasm from penetration alone, just like those in the survey.
In any case, I think this study is a reminder that there’s no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to female pleasure. It’s a spectrum, and it really boils down to the individual and what works for them in the moment. So, let's continue to support open dialogue about it and encourage women to explore what feels best for them.
