I've had the random blocking thing before as well, almost always when the girl is trying to juggle a problem boyfriend with a new romantic interest. It is pretty heartless, especially when it happens with no explanation and no warning. In fact, on one occasion this so pissed me off that I went and sought her out in person and demanded an explanation. It would be so much easier to just send an explanatory note and say "hey, we can't text each other anymore". Most guys are reasonable and would comply, but for some reason the Thai women just don't seem to think in this way.
I've seen some Thai girls completely cut an entire group of friends and people off: new phone number, new LINE ID and new Facebook. From one day to the next. So it's not something that happens only in Thai-Foreigner interactions, but also amongst themselves. The unfortunate consequence is that it's made me less emotionally trusting of Thai women.
