I would say it depends. If she's well off alone and she would ask me, then I would say no too and if this would end the relationship, I would be sure it wasn't one.
But there were two cases I gave an allowance: One girl just made it through a month (low pay, pay rent, bills, basic stuff). I gave her an allowance. It wasn't much for me (around 3000 a month), but she was super happy.
The other one had a kid. The kid was watched by her aunt and she send money back home. She ask me to support her a bit so she could use some money for herself.
