Uncovering Africa's Best Nightlife Hotspots: From Lagos Parties to Zanzibar Beach Vib - ban908463 - 10-21-2024

Hey everyone! Has anyone here explored the nightlife in Africa? From the bustling streets of Johannesburg to the laid-back beach bars in Zanzibar, I’ve heard some wild stories about the nightlife scenes across the continent. It seems like every country has its own unique flavor when it comes to after-dark activities.

I’m especially curious about:

 1. South AfricaJohannesburg and Cape Town are always in the mix. What’s the vibe like? Any clubs, bars, or hidden gems that travelers should know about?
 2. Nigeria – Lagos is known for its electrifying parties. Does it live up to the hype? How safe is it for travelers wanting to experience the real deal?
 3. Kenya – Nairobi’s nightlife seems to be growing. Any standout spots for someone looking to mingle with locals and travelers?
 4. Morocco – While a bit more conservative, I’ve heard Marrakesh has some awesome spots for a great night out. Is it worth checking out?
 5. Zanzibar – How’s the beach party scene? I’ve seen pics of sunset parties, but I wonder if they’re as good as they look.

Let’s share some experiences! Whether it’s a wild night out, chill beach vibes, or something totally unexpected, I’d love to hear what you all have experienced or recommend. Looking forward to some good stories!

Exploring the Nightlife in Johannesburg and Cape Town (South Africa) - jimmy908460 - 10-21-2024

Hey, I’ve been to both Johannesburg and Cape Town a few times, and the nightlife in South Africa is truly something special!

Johannesburg: It’s one of the busiest cities in Africa, and the nightlife here reflects that energy. If you’re into a high-energy club scene, Sandton is the go-to place. There are a ton of rooftop bars like Marble and San Deck, where you can enjoy a more upscale vibe before heading out to the clubs. For more laid-back options, try Melville, which is full of quirky bars and live music venues. People are really friendly, and there’s always something happening – from DJ sets to themed nights. One thing to keep in mind, though, is safety. It's important to stick to well-known spots, and taking Ubers or private transport is highly recommended.

Cape Town: This city offers a more diverse vibe. You can go from a chill beachside bar in Camps Bay to a wild party in Long Street, all in one night! Long Street is famous for its endless line of bars and clubs, attracting a mix of locals and tourists. Fiction, Waiting Room, and Beerhouse are some well-known names. If you're into electronic music, Cape Town has some underground venues that showcase international and local DJs. Cape Town feels a bit more laid-back compared to Johannesburg, but it’s still buzzing with energy. Plus, you get the benefit of those amazing ocean views.
Overall, nightlife in South Africa has a lot to offer, and it caters to all kinds of preferences, whether you're a hardcore partygoer or just looking to relax with a drink.

Lagos (Nigeria) – The Heart of West African Nightlife - jonny09256 - 10-21-2024

Lagos definitely lives up to the hype when it comes to nightlife! I've spent quite a bit of time in the city, and it's one of those places that really comes alive after dark.  Heart

If you’re looking for the best party scenes, start with Victoria Island and Lekki. These areas are home to some of the top clubs and lounges. You can’t go wrong with spots like Club Quilox or Escape, where the music ranges from Afrobeats to hip-hop, and the crowd is always lively. You’ll find a mix of locals and international visitors. If you’re more into a relaxed vibe, there are beach bars like Shiro and Tarkwa Bay, where you can enjoy sunset views with some cocktails. The great thing about Lagos is that there’s something for everyone, from VIP experiences to more down-to-earth local bars. Smile

Safety can be a concern, though, so it's always better to go out in groups and stick to the more popular, well-known spots. Traffic can also be a hassle, especially at night, so plan your evening accordingly. But if you’re ready to immerse yourself in the local culture, the nightlife in Lagos is electric and a must-experience!

Nairobi’s nightlife has really evolved over the past few years. The city has become one of East Africa’s best spots for entertainment, and there’s a lot to experience here.

For clubbing, check out Kiza Lounge or B Club if you want to mingle with Nairobi’s elite. These spots play a mix of Afrobeats, hip-hop, and electronic music, attracting a fashionable crowd. If you prefer something more casual, Westlands is full of bars, restaurants, and lounges where you can relax and enjoy the evening. Brew Bistro is a popular rooftop bar that serves craft beer and great cocktails, and the views of the city are stunning.

Another unique aspect of Nairobi’s nightlife is the live music scene. You’ll find venues like Alchemist and Carnivore that host live bands, often playing African fusion, reggae, and jazz. The energy in these places is different – it's more about enjoying the music and culture, so if you’re into that, you’ll love it.

In terms of safety, Nairobi is generally fine if you stick to the more well-known areas. Uber is widely used, so it’s easy to get around. Nairobi’s nightlife is definitely worth checking out if you’re traveling to Kenya!

Marrakesh isn’t your typical nightlife destination, but it has its own unique charm. Because of Morocco’s conservative culture, you won’t find wild parties like you would in places like Lagos or Cape Town. However, if you know where to go, there are some hidden gems that offer a mix of culture and entertainment.

The first thing to note is that most bars and clubs are located in hotels or resorts. Theatro is probably one of the more famous nightclubs in Marrakesh, and it offers an exciting mix of live performances, music, and DJs. If you’re staying at a luxury hotel, check out their lounges; many of them have bars with incredible views over the city or surrounding desert.

For a more authentic experience, the Jemaa el-Fnaa square transforms at night. While it’s not a party scene, it’s bustling with street performers, food vendors, and traditional music. You can grab a drink at one of the nearby rooftop cafes and just watch the lively atmosphere below. It’s more of a cultural experience than a wild night out, but it’s definitely worth doing if you’re in Marrakesh.

Just keep in mind that while Morocco is more liberal than some other Muslim countries, it’s still a good idea to be respectful of local customs when going out.

Zanzibar has one of the most laid-back nightlife scenes you can imagine. If you’re into beach vibes, it’s the perfect destination. Most of the action happens around Nungwi and Kendwa, where you’ll find beach bars and full-moon parties that attract a great crowd of both locals and travelers.

Kendwa Rocks is famous for its full-moon parties. They’re held once a month, and the vibe is really chill, with bonfires, local bands, and DJs playing a mix of African music and international hits. The party starts around sunset and goes on until the early hours. It’s a great place to meet fellow travelers and dance under the stars.

If you’re not into big parties, there are plenty of beach bars where you can just relax with a cocktail while watching the sunset. The Z Hotel and Sunshine Marine Lodge both have great bar areas with a more relaxed, romantic atmosphere. The island has a very chill vibe overall, so even if you're not a party person, Zanzibar's nightlife won’t disappoint.

Safety is generally not an issue in Zanzibar, and the locals are really friendly. It’s easy to hop between bars and clubs, but everything here moves at a slower pace, so don’t expect the crazy energy of places like Lagos or Johannesburg.

Hi there,

I literally joined for this thread. I am planning a trip to Lagos & to Accra very very soon. Its kind of a spontaneous trip because I was lucky enough to get some additional leave days granted due to overtime.

I have never been to Africa ever but fairly recently I have kind of developed a taste for gorgeous ebony girls. I am quite surprised by this to be honest because I am into Asians (chinese, thai, indonesian) or Latinas (colombian & brazilian) usually. Colombia is way too dangerous for me and I have already mongered all over Asia at this point (been to Thailand like 10 times, been to Taiwan, China, Indonesia, Singapore and had tons of girls in those countries). Brazil is planned for next year.

So long story short. I want to experience some gorgeous choc girls. I have tried a bit of Codedruns but alot of the girls seem to be fake.

Do you have any experience with mongering in Accra and Lagos? Prices? Quality of girls (I am super picky about faces and do not go over 24/25) and additional useful tips for a first time Africa enjoyer?

Cheers!!
