Is this cultural or a red flag? - aiden15632 - 07-25-2024 It’s understandable to have mixed feelings about this situation. Here’s a breakdown of potential cultural factors and red flags to consider: Cultural Factors: Generosity: Thai Culture: In Thai culture, it’s not uncommon for people to express care and affection through generous gestures, especially in the context of a romantic relationship. It’s possible that she is showing her appreciation and commitment by covering expenses. Traditional Roles: Gender Norms: In some traditional contexts, Thai women may feel that paying for things early in a relationship is a way to show their dedication. This could be part of her personal approach to relationships. Clear communication can help you understand her perspective and avoid misunderstandings. Get to Know Her Better: Build Trust: Continue to get to know her and understand her background and values. Building a deeper connection can help you gauge whether her actions are genuine or if there might be hidden motives. Be Cautious: Balance: Balance your feelings with a cautious approach. While generosity can be a positive trait, it’s important to remain observant and not rush into assumptions. RE: Is this cultural or a red flag? - shant234 - 07-25-2024 If she already gratudated with a Masters and is fluent in English, she can actually make a reasonable amount of money. Universities will pay 60,000+ baht a month to a Thai with great credentials and expereience. I have had ladies pay entire dates if our chemistry is really good and she is trying to impress me. Typically, it is a sign that she wants a relationship (or has already decided you are in one). RE: Is this cultural or a red flag? - daniel74 - 07-25-2024 Agree with the above. Not all Thai girls with normal jobs are poorly paid. I know plenty of normal thai girls who get paid more than 50k a month and that may not be a lot for a foreigner or a tourist coming here for a week, but it is for a middle-class thai girl. If she is paying for you, then it’s her way of saying that she wants you to stay. If you are looking for a serious relationship with her, great. If not, then I’d be upfront honest with her exactly what you’re looking for. RE: Is this cultural or a red flag? - hilululu - 07-25-2024 Did she arrange where you went and what you did on the second date? Or ask/say she wanted to go somewhere particular? I have found that when dating Thai women who can afford to they will pay for the date if they arranged it or choose where to go.
