I will lead with the question: how difficult/expensive is it to get ID papers and/or passport for a "stateless" girl from one of those hill tribe towns? I will call her hill tribe girl, HTG.
Background... Met HTG on TF about 10 days ago. I know what yr thinking already. Yes I agree with you... Except HTG is either the greatest con artist in the history of the profession, or the legit thing.
HTG's story: 1 boyfriend only, at 17. She was basically abused by this guy over 2 year period, who gets another girl preggers so it all implodes. Then nothing for a year. Then HTG gets scooped up by a large lesbian... Who is girlfriend to current day, she is now 28. They are on a break as HTG is back home from BKK, and now thinking she wants out, and wants a guy and maybe kids. Her reason for being on TF is to finesse the English and relieve boredom did not think a guy would go north. She is a bit naive, sent lots of hot photos over line app, then deletes after couple of minutes, I promise not to share. Or... I'm the mark, and swallowed the bait, hook,line and all, depending on yr cynic score.
I have had 5-10 hours line chat per DAY with HTG over last week. Also video chat couple of times. Her written English is 8/10 (I rate average on TF at 4) verbal maybe 6. She is funny, reasonable, has not asked for anything... In fact did not want to meet (still considering going back to GF). Her life is centred about family business, markets related.
Over last few days I have "won her trust" (or again swallowed the bait, hook etc depending on yr cynic score)... Last night she agreed to meet me for 4 day road trip, sleep in same bed, we can touch/hold etc but "no sex unless she accepts"). Challenge accepted.
HTG says she is tribal, can't get Thai ID. She got special papers for BKK course, but it's difficult now. So our trip is restricted to home region. Says there are checkpoints, we can't even drive south.
There's a faint orange light flashing in my brain, I'm sure you KWIM, if it seems too good to be true etc. But HTG says/sends so much, a "pro" would not risk, or bother. Plus the 50+ hours of chat we've had... What could go wrong?
I would really like to go with her to Phuket or somewhere with a good beach. I.e. travel by plane.
Does anyone know the ropes here with Thai ID? Or other tips for the scenario? I'm no bunny with Thai ML here, she does not have any of the signs (Inc no tattoos... Anywhere). At this point I don't want to live without finding out lol.
[Edit] forgot to mention... The premise of the trip is for her to get away, relax, see what it's like being around a "normal guy". Yes I clarified I pay all costs inc daily massage and lost wages.

Maybe I’m being sceptical, but it just doesn’t sound right. She has good English but is from a hill tribe? The ID thing is odd too. Are you sure of her age, or, nationality? Most Thais have ID and you definitely need it to get on a plane. Don’t need one to travel by car across regions though. There are checkpoints in the south, but that is because of the troubles there. There aren’t checkpoints anywhere else as standard.
Only had one boyfriend and has been with a lesbian since? That is what many people would like to hear on account of not been fucked by loads of guys. Convenient story
It might all be legit of course, but there are too many red flags. That said, if you are just after some fun when you visit, who cares? It doesn’t really matter what her story is (as long as she is old enough) if you just want to get your rocks off for a week or so.

Hmmm. No papers? Maybe someone has them?
Has she been trafficked? Is the "lesbian" the boss with a live in maid/lover situation? As she has escaped?
We know how strong the Thai grapevine is and maybe scared of someone passing on her location.
The English is weird though. How did she learn? Better written than spoken, there is a 3rd party in the way there.
I'd reckon you need a day or two in her area which to suss it out. Then make your decision.
Just remember, if you're punting or looking for love, It isn't this hard.

My wife is from North East Thai, and she has told me that people from the Hill Tribes are stateless with no papers, so I do not find that hard to believe
Unusre how far North your friend is, but when we drove from Roi Et to Bangkok we only passed one check point and didnt bother stopping, jsut kept going

I'm reasonably confident her English is from her course and sheer perseverance. She proudly sent pics of her vocab pages, handwriting forever.
The lesbian is still in BKK. HTG wasn't trafficked, her family and community sound ok. Her tribe. She's paranoid about Thai police, with foreigner in car is convinced we will be targeted. At this point I'm going for local resort... Gives us both a parachute. High stakes high reward, she is all natural beauty.
