Funhouse A-Go-Go - Formerly Bar Blu on Soi LK Metro - aiden15632 - 07-23-2024

Funhouse A-Go-Go, which recently opened on Soi LK Metro, has taken over the space previously occupied by Bar Blu. Located at the intersection of Soi LK Metro and Soi Bukhao, this venue is positioned in a prime spot to attract both local and international patrons exploring Pattaya's nightlife.
The new establishment closely mirrors the well-known Gogo bar Sugar Sugar, located directly across the street. This similarity extends beyond just the decor and layout, as the Mama San, who manages Funhouse A-Go-Go, is also a familiar face from Sugar Sugar. This connection suggests that Funhouse A-Go-Go aims to offer a comparable experience to its renowned counterpart, leveraging the same management style and operational standards.
Funhouse A-Go-Go delivers a solid Go-Go bar experience that aligns with the expectations of regular nightlife enthusiasts. The interior is designed with the classic elements of a Go-Go bar: vibrant lighting, energetic music, and a lively atmosphere. While the bar does feature a few attractive dancers, the overall ambiance is fairly standard and does not introduce any novel elements to distinguish it significantly from its peers.
Despite its effort to replicate the successful formula of Sugar Sugar, Funhouse A-Go-Go’s appeal might seem interchangeable with other similar venues on Soi LK Metro. The bar’s design and entertainment offerings are straightforward, focusing on providing a reliable, if not particularly groundbreaking, night out for patrons.
However, Funhouse A-Go-Go does benefit from its new location in the bustling corner of Soi LK Metro and Soi Bukhao. This strategic positioning ensures good foot traffic and visibility, which are essential for attracting both new and returning visitors.
In summary, Funhouse A-Go-Go, formerly known as Bar Blu, offers a familiar Go-Go bar experience with a strong resemblance to Sugar Sugar. While it may not bring groundbreaking changes to the Soi LK Metro nightlife scene, its established management and central location make it a viable option for those looking to enjoy a classic Go-Go bar night out.

If any space becomes available in that area, similar to what happened with Club Blue, you can bet that an A-Go-Go bar will be set up there quickly. The demand for new venues is high, and it’s only a matter of time before someone takes advantage of the opportunity. The competition can be intense, and the new spot could end up being quite lively and entertaining. It’s always interesting to see how these new additions pan out and what unique features they might offer. Stay tuned for updates, as the new establishment could be a real game-changer! ?

It’s worth wondering if we’ll see another non-smoking A-Go-Go bar, similar to Sugar Sugar. Although it’s not a big concern for me now since I’ve quit smoking, it would be interesting to see if such a venue gains popularity. Non-smoking environments can be appealing to those who prefer a fresher atmosphere while enjoying their night out. If a new A-Go-Go bar adopts this approach, it could attract a different crowd and offer a unique experience. Regardless, I’ll be keeping an eye out for any new developments and will be curious to see how it turns out.

In the Funhouse, smoking is indeed allowed, unlike Club Blu in its early days where smoking was initially restricted but eventually became permitted. Regarding the staff, about 20-25 women have been working together for years across various venues. They originally worked at Club Blu, then moved to Sugar when Derrek and Rung opened the place. After Derrek handed the shop over to Phillip, some of the crew returned to the Funhouse, including Mama San. The core group has since relocated to the Atlantic Bar, where Rung's sister Jep's Stopfi manages the establishment. Notable members of this group include Nam and Sky.

It’s important to be cautious with this group, as many may be more interested in profiting from drink sales rather than engaging with customers. For example, at Sugar, Rose, Ploy, Showgirls, Rak, and Nam had a reputation for this. Similarly, Bee at the Funhouse, and Nam and Sky at the Atlantic Bar have shown similar behavior. However, a well-off customer with 5000 Baht can certainly influence the situation and potentially open doors that might otherwise remain closed.

It’s important to note that this dynamic doesn’t work for lesbians and those with Thai boyfriends, a group that is notably present in Funhouse and Sugar. These women are unlikely to engage with customers in the way you might hope, and they often only make this clear after a customer has spent a significant amount on drinks. This creates a clear risk of being taken advantage of.

From my perspective, these venues aren't bad for a lively night out. For instance, Sugar offers a large bottle of SangSom with four mixers for just 700 Baht, which is a great deal for an A-Go-Go bar—much cheaper than what you’d pay at a typical beer bar.

If you’re looking for more intimate interactions, you might have better luck at other A-Go-Go bars in LK Metro. I was a regular at Sugar 1-2 years ago, but last October, I struggled to finish a bottle of SangSom in 30 days. I only visited Funhouse twice in a month. The reason I mention Sugar frequently is that the same girls often move between Funhouse and Sugar, making both venues similar in terms of the talent available.
